Join the County of Simcoe and Municipalities within South Georgian Bay on October 12th at a Bicycle Friendly Communities Workshop, facilitated by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition.
During this full-day workshop, attendees with hear inspirational stories from communities similar to those in Ontario's Lake Country, will identify the existing assets within their communities and will then help to chart a path forward towards a future where cycling is safer and more accessible to all residents. Attendees will collaborate to create a detailed, action-oriented workplan based around the 5 Es of the Bicycle Friendly Communities Program that will help to ensure that cycling continued to grow and flourish in Ontario's Lake County.
The 5 Es of the BFC Program are:
ENGINEERING - Physical infrastructure and hardware to support cycling
EDUCATION- Programs that ensure the safety, comfort and convenience of cyclists and fellow road users
ENCOURAGEMENT - Incentives, promotions and opportunities that inspire people and enable them to ride
ENFORCEMENT - Equitable laws and programs that ensure that cyclists and motorists are held accountable
EVALUATION & PLANNING - Processes that demonstrate a commitment to measuring results and planning for the future
This facilitated workshop is designed to encourage cross-sector collaboration with regards to cycling activities, so your participation as a key stakeholder is extremely important to the success of the workshop and the quality of the workplan that emerges as a result.
