Every year we at Share Hope USA pick a 5k walk/run to connect ourselves too. This year we have choosen to support United Way of Greater Los Angeles.

REGISTRATION -

Many people in Los Angeles are just one paycheck away from homelessness. United Way’s core mission is to Create Pathways Out of Poverty for all Angelenos by eradicating homelessness. In addition to relying on a “Housing First” approach, we’ve joined forces with members of the public, private and nonprofit sectors to pursue our goals of:

- Ending chronic and veteran homelessness through a five-year action plan called Home For Good
- Reducing the County’s overall homelessness rate by 75% by moving thousands of individuals into permanent housing with supportive services

Together, we can end homelessness.

Permanent housing with supportive services is a proven model for ending homelessness, with a success rate of over 85%. But it takes all of us working together and success starts with you. Please give your money, your time and your voice so we can save thousands of people from a life of hardship on the streets.

At the age of 8 Symond couldn't understand why someone should be homeless and hungry. So he decided to do something about it, Share Hope USA was born. As the founder of Share Hope USA, a non-profit organization, Symond selflessly tends to the needs of others by organizing outreach events to feed the homeless, to cut their hair, and to help them with their medical needs. As well as collection events to gather what is needed for those without. Based in Downey CA, the sky is the limit for this young man and the organization he founded.

Share Hope USA will be organizing a TEAM to run or walk in this years 5k. Sign up information will be provided as we get closer to race day.

PARKING & TRANSPORTATION -

To avoid traffic on race day, we strongly recommend participants utilize public transportation.

Red and Purple Lines provide easy access to Grand Park, with entrances located near the Civic Center/Grand Park Metro Station (see location of station on the route map). To plan your trip, please visit metro.net.

Large groups can travel via bus. Buses can drop off passengers on the corner of Hill St. and 1st St. The bus driver has 2 options:

The bus can proceed to park on 1st and Main. Please note that due to stacked parking in this area, the bus will not be able to get out until 1 p.m.

For more flexibility, buses can proceed to the overflow lot at Cesar Chavez and Mathews (one block east of Soto St.), in the Boyle Heights area. This is fairly close, within 10-15 minutes of Grand Park. A map will be provided to each bus driver at the drop-off point.


PARKING -

There are paid lots available for participants for a parking fee of $9. Cash or credit is accepted.

Lot 14 at 135 N. Grand Avenue (Music Center)
Lot 16 at 111 S. Grand Avenue (Walt Disney Concert Hall)
Lot 17 at 131 S. Olive Street

If you are coming from the east, you’ll travel westbound on 1st St., take a left on Olive and an immediate right into Lot 17.

If you are coming from the west or south, go eastbound on 1st Street then take a right on Grand Ave. and a right on 2nd St. into the Disney Hall Garage (Lot 16).

If you are coming from the north, go southbound on Grand Ave. and then right into the Music Center garage. (Lot 14).

ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT -

DURING THE EVENT
All runners and walkers MUST start the walk by 9:15 a.m. No one will be permitted to start after that time.

Runners and walkers will line up on different streets (exact location TBD)

The run will start at 8:45 am

-Walkers will then move up to the start line for the walk to begin
-This is a "fun run," which means it will not be chip-timed
-There will be clocks at the start and the finish so you can see your results

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
-No pets allowed, except service animals.
-Balloons are permitted but they must be tied down and removed when the event is over.-
-Donations will be accepted on-site. Payment forms include: cash, check, or credit card.
