Description

Join us as MA State Representative, Eric Lesser, communicates his vision for millenial politcal engagement and leads a discussion on concrete ways that can be facilitated.

Biography

Eric P. Lesser was first elected to the Massachusetts Senate on November 4, 2014 and reelected in 2016. He is Senate Chairman of the Joint Committee on Economic Development & Emerging Technologies, which oversees legislation related to science, technology, and workforce training. Senator Lesser’s legislative portfolio will be at the forefront of his state’s efforts to seize the potential and manage the challenges of the gig economy. Elected at 29, Senator Lesser also spearheads the Massachusetts Senate’s agenda on millennial issues, including innovation in government, student debt, and greater youth engagement in public affairs.

Prior to becoming a state Senator, Lesser worked in the Obama White House, first as Special Assistant to Senior Adviser David Axelrod, and later as Director of Strategic Planning for the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. Lesser began as a young aide on President Obama’s historic 2008 presidential campaign, traveling to 47 states and six countries with then-Senator Obama and his senior team. Lesser has been described as “the face of the promised Obama political generation” by the New York Times.

Senator Lesser has a law degree from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College. He is a Fellow with the Truman National Security Project and NewDEAL, a network of pro-growth progressive state and local leaders working to expand opportunity for all Americans in the changing economy, and is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper.

Lesser lives in Longmeadow, just blocks from where he grew up, with his wife, Alison, young
daughters Rose and Nora, and their family dog, Cooper.
