This two session workshop, taught by avid and obsessed Madison gardener and no-nonsense pruner, Cassandre McGowan, will be held on TWO SATURDAYS in January 2017 from 10:00 AM until noon. The first session is 1/14 and the second session is 1/28. Both sessions are necessary in order to get full benefit from the workshop.
Why January you ask? Cassandre explains, "Trees and shrubs are best pruned in winter, when they are dormant." So, get out of the winter doldrums and learn a new skill that will set your landscape apart from all the others!
Saturday, January 14, (session 1) will be an introduction to pruning and how it all went wrong or right from coast to coast in America. Included is a review of the best tools needed for specific tasks. The week in between classes will allow you to obtain new pruners, loppers and hand saws or to clean and sharpen those you already have. You will be asked to walk around your own garden and to make a multi-year pruning list in order of importance which we can discuss during session two.
Saturday, January 28, (session 2) will be hands-on pruning of trees and shrubs on the grounds of Farmview Market.
Cassandre promises to teach everyone how to make their landscaping look better than ever, with a guarantee of "No Gumdrops, No Meatballs, No Ballistic Missiles!"
