Shame-Free Sex Ed: Undoing Stigma and Promoting Healthy Messages

How can we undo stigmas and promote healthy messages about sexuality topics with youth? Sexuality educators often hear a variety of stigmatizing comments about sexuality topics from youth and adult clients alike. This training will examine some of the common stigmas and stereotypes that arise in the world of sexual and reproductive health, concerning topics such as gender norms, identity, abortion, masturbation, victim-blaming, sexually transmitted infections, and media messages. At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • reflect on how shaming messages can impact sex education
  • identify and debunk stigmatizing language
  • address teachable moments to offer healthy sexuality messages

SACC Training Topics Satisfied: (3) Child day care program development

Coffee/tea provided. Participants are welcome to bring breakfast with them.
Participants will receive certificates upon completion of the training
