Shame and Grace in the Therapeutic Relationship: A Framework of Healing
Presented by: Dr. Petra Blum, PhD, LPC
In this session we will explore the therapeutic constructs of shame and grace. Focus will be given to the role that shame plays in the presenting concerns of clients, which includes depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and addictions. Based in interpersonal and bio-spiritual theory, grace, as expressed in the therapeutic relationship, will be identified as a curative factor in the healing process. Attention will be given to grace-based techniques and methods of implementation for practitioners.
