About this Event

This session will unfold Shakespeare’s exploration of the human psyche through the title character of Hamlet. The audience will have the opportunity to observe an actor, coached by psychologist Ben Bernstein, bring to life one of Shakespeare’s well-known soliloquies. Discussion before and after, moderated by Bill Riess, will focus on the meaningful connections between the words, the musical expression of the verse, and the psychological depth of the soliloquy.

BEN BERNSTEIN, PHD, performance psychologist, brings to his work a varied background in psychology, education, music and theater. In his private practice he focuses on optimal performance for entrepreneurs, athletes, healthcare professionals, parents, and students taking tests. The founder of The Singer’s Gym, he is an opera composer and a theater director specializing in Shakespeare. He is the author of four books on optimal performance including the forthcoming Well-Trained Husbands. Ben and his wife divide their time between northern California and southern India. www.drbperformancecoach.com.
