About the author

Gary Rivlin is a Pulitzer Prize–winning investigative reporter and the author of eleven books, including AI Valley and Katrina: After the Flood. His work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Mother Jones, and Wired, among other publications. He is a two-time Gerald Loeb Award winner and former reporter for the New York Times. He lives in New York with his wife, theater director Daisy Walker, and two sons.

About the moderator

Brad Stone is the editor of Bloomberg Businessweek, where he leads the brand’s editorial strategy across digital and print. Before he was named editor of the magazine in January 2024, Brad was the senior executive editor for Global Technology at Bloomberg News, where he oversaw a team of 80 reporters and editors covering high-tech companies, startups, cyber security, artificial intelligence, and internet trends around the world. Since joining Bloomberg in 2010, he’s authored over two dozen cover stories for Bloomberg Businessweek on companies such as Apple, Google, Amazon, Softbank, Twitter, Facebook and the Chinese internet juggernauts Didi, Tencent and Baidu.
