Smart Grid Roadmap Discussion Series
Renewable Energy Integration
Renewable energy offers many benefits in terms of reduced pollution and lessening dependency on finite supplies of fossil fuels. However, it also faces a number of challenges. One of the most commonly cited challenges is the integration of energy from highly variable sources of generation, such as windpower and solar energy, onto a grid that needs stable, predictable supplies of electricity. A number of options are available for balancing renewable energy and integrating it onto the grid. However, these options can work better with a smarter grid.
Please join us and a panel of top experts in the field for a discussion of the questions that remain and the next steps forward for renewables integration. The discussion will be chaired by Roy Hemmingway, former chairman of the Oregon Public Utility Commission. The panel will include Elliot Mainzer, Executive Vice President for Corporate Strategy at the Bonneville Power Administration, along with other distinguished guests.
The doors will open at 5:30 PM for heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks. The event will conclude by 7:30 PM. Ater Wynne has been gracious enough to provide a venue for this event. There is a $20.00 charge for members of SGO to cover our costs. Non-member will be asked to pay $30.00.
