Learn How to Harness Electrical Energy from Trash
In cooperation with the Student Global Ambassador Program (SGAP) and Covanta Energy
High School students visit the Covanta Energy from Waste (EfW) facility and learn how municipal waste and trash is processed to yield electrical energy. Tour is tailored for STEM and AP Environmental students and teachers. Prior to the 40 minute walking tour, there is a brief presentation about the Sustainable Development Goals and Renewable Energy. Finally, there will be an overview of the EfW process. After the tour, there is a brief wrap-up, question and answer session, and a take-home case study. To learn more, sgapleaders.org

All tour guides are Covanta environmental engineers. For your safety, all participants must wear long sleeve shirts, long ankle length pants with socks, and closed-toe flat shoes. Students bring their bag lunches.
