Description
Join San Francisco State University's Counseling Student Association for a day of workshops, networking, and special presentations. This event is geared towards developing counseling professionals and community members into individuals who fiercely seek to improve the world around them through social justice and advocacy. Our symposium aims to empower individuals to unite their authentic self with the counseling skills necessary to become an effective social change agent.
We encourage and welcome community allies and advocates outside of the counseling field to join our event as our workshops will be beneficial to anyone looking to build their expertise in promoting social change.
Workshops will cover topics including:

Historical women of color as healing symbols

Serving drug users through a harm reduction approach

Increasing representation in underrepresented social justice warriors

Empowering advocates through the history of disability activism

Therapeutic responses to the Syrian crisis
