Marriage is hard. Why is it that the divorce rate is so high not only in America but also in China? Is there a secret to a happy and healthy marriage? The Bible reveals principles about God's desire and purpose for marriage that will help us find greater success and joy in our own.
Lee and Miltinnie Yih are highly educated and successful individuals who were born in America to Chinese immigrant parents. However despite experiencing professional success and the American Dream they were not able to have a fulfilling marriage, almost divorcing while serving in the US army in Europe. They will be sharing how God uses marriage to help us become what He has designed us to be. Topics to be discussed will include:
1) How to be happy, though married;
2) Explaining the husband's responsibility to lead, love and understand his wife, and the wife's responsibility to help submit, and respect her husband;
3) 10 practical ways that Lee shows love to his wife; and
4) The 3 misconceptions to watch out for as you start your marriage.
Lee and Miltinnie now serve as mentors and counselors to many younger couples and especially to Chinese scholars from their ministry house located in Cambridge, MA between Harvard and MIT. However, both are Stanford graduates: Lee graduated with his MBA, and Miltinnie with her BA in Philosophy. They have 3 children and 4.5 grandchildren.
Lee Yih was born to Chinese grad students at the University of Iowa. His father is from Ningbo and his mother from Tianjing. Lee is presently the President of the Layman's Foundation, Inc. (LFI). He has been married for over 45 years to his wife, Miltinnie Yih, and they have been living in Boston for the last 12 years.
Miltinnie Yih was a teacher and counselor for the Hong Kong International School, started Kaplan in Hong Kong and China, and now works for Brakeley Consulting as a fund-raising consultant.
