We're hosting our 2nd CoLab to gather climate restoration organizations!

About this Event

Our Goal

  • To foster personal and professional relationships between leaders in Bay Area climate restoration and to raise awareness and support for climate restoration solutions!

Our Featured Speakers

Nayeli Maxson Velazquez, CEO of the Alliance for Community Development, is dedicated to economically empowering, and increasing access to capital, for underrepresented entrepreneurs.

Jim Aldridge, CEO and owner of DAC City, a startup company focused on bringing CO2 direct air capture technology to the myriad of industrial CO2 users around the world.

Panel on Sacred Water and Marine Restoration Featuring:

  • David Helvarg, Executive Director of Blue Frontier and author of 50 Ways to Save the Ocean, Rescue Warriors, Saved by the Sea and The Golden Shore
  • Margaret Ikeda, Buoyant Ecology Lab
  • George Orbelian, of the Buckminster Fuller Institute, co-founder of Project Kaisei which researches solutions for plastic marine debris
  • PANEL MODERATOR: Andrew Haddad, Postdoctoral Fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory focused on the nexus of energy and water

  • 10:00 am - Introduction and Blessing
  • 10:10 am - Speaker Nayeli Maxson Velazquez followed by short Q&A session
  • 10:40 am - Speaker Jim Aldridge followed by short Q&A session
  • 11:15 am - Panel on Sacred Water
  • 12 noon - Companies and organizations present brief introductions on their work
  • 1:00 pm - LUNCH (included)
  • 2:00 pm - First breakout session (4 topics: Carbon Capture, Funding & Market Driven Solutions, Carbon Capture & Soil Utilization, Business Development)
  • 3:00 pm - Second breakout session (above topics)
  • 4:00 pm - Closing and Next Steps
  • 4:30 pm - CoLab ends

This order of events is subject to change including on the day of the event.

Lunch is included with vegan options available. (This is a zero-waste event so please bring a plate, cup, utensils, and dinner napkin if possible. )
