April 2016 San Francisco Bay Area Association of Contingency Planners Meeting

Please join us for our monthly membership meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2016 from 10:30am - 2:30pm at the University of California - San Francisco Department of Homeland Security Emergency Management. Seats are limited so please RSVP by noon Wednesday, April 20th. All participants are required to bring government-issued ID. We look forward to your attendance and participation!

The UC San Francisco Homeland Security & Emergency Management Divison is responsible for implementing advanced emergency management protocols in support of UCSF’s Emergency Plan, coordinating UCSF’s Emergency Operations Centers, and providing all hazards emergency management and training, homeland security risk assessment, mitigation planning, business continuity planning and technology support for the UCSF Emergency Operations Center.

Join us as Michelle Heckle, CHEP, provides and overview of what her department does to safeguard and protect the education, research and healthcare at the University of San Francisco. Did you know these interesting facts about the campus?

  • UCSF’s Graduate Division has 17 PhD programs and 10 master’s programs.

  • UCSF has more than 3,100 students enrolled in degree programs,1,500 clinical residents and 1,600 postdoctoral scholars.

  • UCSF Medical Center has 3 main clinical sites:Parnassus, Mount Zion and Mission Bay, and maintains numerous primary care and specialty clinics throughout San Francisco and Northern California.

  • UCSF employs nearly 2,800 faculty and 22,000 staff.

What does the Department of Homeland Security do to support the innovation at this UC campus? What are considerations taken into account when overseeing a multi-location campus spread throughout San Francisco that encompasses multi-jurisdictional agencies? What is the connection to the Department of Homeland Security and the UCSF Police Department? Attend this engaging event as Michelle introduces UCSF to our membership and invites us on a tour of one of UCSF's key facilities!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - This is a secured facility requiring your RSVP no later than noon Wednesday, April 20th. Please note that parking is limited. It is highly recommended that you use public transportation - the MUNI T line from Embarcadero to 3rd & Mariposa is a 3 block walk. Alternatively, BART to 16th & Mission and catch the MUNI #22 to 18th & Minnesota is a 350 ft walk. Also, UCSF does have a shuttle that runs from 16th & MIssion directly to our meeting location - the UCSF RED line (schedule at http://campuslifeservices.ucsf.edu/upload/transportation/files/Shuttles_Red_Current.pdf)
