Sexual Wellbeing Activism
Event Information
Description
Assemble, advocate, and activate: a look to history and queer theory to help unleash our inner (or not so inner!) sexual wellbeing activists.
Dr Monica Pearl is a former member of ACT UP New York. In this session she'll draw on her research on the cultural representations of AIDS, focusing on aspects of sexuality, the development of personal and cultural identities through narrative. Together we'll look at activism during the AIDS epidemic and how we can look forward to ending all news cases of HIV in a generation with PrEP, PEP and U=U alongside condoms and lube, and regular testing.
