Course Description

This is a two-hour interactive webinar presentation provided by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. The course is designed to be compliant with the requirements of Government Code section 12950.1 and will include information and practical guidance regarding the federal and state statutory provisions concerning the prohibition against and the prevention and correction of sexual harassment and the remedies available to victims of sexual harassment in employment. The course will also include practical examples aimed at instructing supervisors in the prevention of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, generally; and the importance of avoiding workplace bullying.

Intended Audience:

Supervisory employees required to attend sexual harassment prevention training under Government Code section 12950.1; human resources and EEO professionals; small business owners, job applicants rank and file workers, and any other individual with an interest in understanding their right to be free from sexual harassment and other forms of discrimination, harassment and discrimination.


At least one member of the DFEH Legal Division will lead the discussion. Knowledgeable professionals from the public and private sector, non-profit organizations, and academia will participate in the program, when available. The list expected presenters will be announced at least two weeks before each program, but is necessarily subject to change without further notice.


The DFEH is an approved provider by the State Bar of California and the HR Certification Institute. Certificates of completion will be provided only to those participants who fulfill the interactive requirements announced at the time of the training.


Free to state, federal and local government employees, including public educational institutions. $40 to all others. There will be registration announcements with payment information, where applicable, for both public sector and non-public sector participants.

The Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH or Department), California’s civil rights agency. The Department takes in, investigates, conciliates, mediates and prosecutes violations under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Disabled Persons Act, Unruh Civil Rights Act and Ralph Civil Rights Act.
