Event Details

A two hour training for human resources professionals, investigators, attorneys and employees regarding sexual harassment prevention. Participants learn the basic protections provided by the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), how to recognize and avoid sexual harassment, employees’ and employers’ duties under the FEHA, and the legal remedies available under the law. 


David CullenDavid Cullen joined the DFEH in 2010 as Staff Counsel. David has litigated four trials in front of the Fair Employment and Housing Commission before it was abolished by SB 1038 last January. In addition to being trial counsel for the DFEH, he also acts as the Department’s Ethics Officer. David began his legal career as a Deputy District Attorney in Stockton, California, prosecuting criminal trials for two years before joining the DFEH. David is a business administration Bachelors of Science graduate from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He obtained his Juris Doctor from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2007. Prior to law school, David worked in the private sector at an internet start-up company in London England, as a Client Relationship Executive. One of David’s more notable recent accomplishments with the DFEH was a post-trial disability discrimination settlement for $425,000.

Kevin Pease is a Civil Rights Fellow for the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing in Elk Grove. He graduated from the UC Davis School of Law in the top 5% of his class last year with certificates in public interest and public service. In December 2013, he was admitted to the California Bar. He worked as a student attorney at the UC Davis Immigration Clinic in 2011 where he helped litigate cases in front of both the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States. In the summer of 2012, he worked at the Attorney General’s Office, Criminal, Writs and Appeals Division in Sacramento. Since August 2013, he has worked as a Civil Rights Fellow for the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.

Department of Fair Employment and Housing

The Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH or Department), California’s civil rights agency. The Department takes in, investigates, conciliates, mediates and prosecutes violations under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Disabled Persons Act, Unruh Civil Rights Act and Ralph Civil Rights Act. The DFEH has five California offices in Elk Grove (Headquarters), Bakersfield, Fremont, Fresno and Los Angeles.
