Event description

Description

Wine sisters and, just as importantly, brothers: As we all know, many women have recently spoken out about sexual harassment and other forms of gender discrimination. There is no question that it exists and must change in our industry, too. We are organizing a panel to discuss challenges women face in the wine industry, and to have a positive and constructive conversation about addressing them.

The intention of this panel discussion is neither to shame nor place blame on specific individuals or companies, but to discuss systemic discrimination and the barriers women face, and to start working towards solutions.

EVERYONE who works in the wine trade is welcome to attend, regardless of gender identity.

Confirmed Panelists:

Eric Danch, Bay Area Sales, Blue Danube Wine Company
Barbara Haimes, Instructor, Culinary Arts & Hospitality Studies at City College of San Francisco
Emily Kaplan, East Bay Sales, Springboard Wine Company
Molly Madden, Founder, Red Hen Collective
Evelyn Rangel Medina, Director, Restaurant Opportunities Center of California
Debby Zygielbaum, Farmer, Vineyard Manager

Lori Andrus, a San Francisco based attorney who has worked in the area of discrimination and equal pay for women, will serve as the moderator.

The panel discussion is now at full capacity. Attendees must have a ticket reserved through Eventbrite. If you’d still like to attend, register through Eventbrite and you’ll be added to a waitlist.

Following the panel, from 6-8pm, there will be a tasting featuring women winemakers and importers, for $20 per person. Net proceeds from the tasting will benefit the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund. Guests unable to attend the panel discussion are welcome to attend the tasting, subject to venue capacity limits.
