About this event
The main festival opens at the McCord Museum on May 26 at 7:20 p.m. with an award-winning documentary called Sewing Sisters (2020) by LEE Hyuk-rae and KIM Jung-young from South Korea. It is produced by Ellen Y. D. KIM, head programmer at Bucheon International Film Festival in Korea. The story follows three women textile workers and the labour history of women during the 1970s. This documentary has a tone of satiric comedy. It is highly praised by director BONG Joon-ho, the Academy Award-winning director. He gave it a “two thumbs up” as “the most beautiful documentary film he has ever seen in recent years.”
Le festival principal s'ouvre au Musée McCord le 26 mai à 19 h 20 avec un documentaire primé intitulé Sewing Sisters (2020) de LEE Hyuk-rae et KIM Jung-young de la Corée du Sud. Il est produit par Ellen Y. D. KIM, responsable de la programmation du Festival international du film de Bucheon en Corée. Le scénario suit trois ouvrières du textile et l'histoire du travail des femmes dans les années 1970. Ce documentaire a un ton de comédie satirique. Il a reçu les éloges du réalisateur BONG Joon-ho, lauréat d'un Oscar. Il lui a donné deux pouces en l'air comme "le plus beau film documentaire qu'il ait vu ces dernières années".
캐나다한국영화제의 오프닝 이벤트가 이혁래, 김정영 감독의 '미싱타는 여자들(2020)'과 함께 5월 26일 오후 7시 20분에 맥코드 뮤지엄에서 열릴 예정입니다. 이 영화는 부천국제영화제의 수석 프로그래머 Ellen Y.D. 김이 제작을 맡아 상을 여럿 탔습니다. 영화는 1970년대 여성 노동사와 여성 봉제 노동자들의 이야기를 블랙 코미디 형태로 보여줍니다. 아카데미상을 받은 봉준호 감독이 추천하는 작품으로, 그는 "최근 본 영화 중 가장 아름다운 다큐멘터리 영화"라며 극찬을 했습니다.
