Seven Last Words
Overview
This March, Music at Co-Cath (MACC) presents Seven Last Words, a moving Lenten meditation featuring James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross and Caroline Shaw’s To the Hands.
In the awe-inspiring setting of the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph, MacMillan’s searing portrayal of Christ’s final utterances gives way to Shaw’s tender, searching meditation on human suffering and compassion. Together, the works move from gripping drama to stillness, and ultimately, to the hope of healing.
“These two works are raw, emotional, and profoundly human,” says Artistic Director Alejandro Zuleta. “They invite us into the heart of Lent: the confrontation with suffering and the search for mercy.”
All performances are free and open to the public with a suggested donation of $25.
