Description

Setting the Stage for Success: Engaging Clients from the Start

Target Audience

This intensive workshop is intended for all caseworkers and staff within DYCD-funded programs that provide full case management services.

Overview

Have you ever had a client who stopped showing up to appointments, or a young person who never returned to program? How do you get an accurate understanding of their needs from the start and build a relationship that will keep them motivated? Engaging clients from the moment you meet and making the intake phase a friendly conversation that provides a full picture of the indivdual is the KEY to successful goal-setting and continued motivation. We all want our youth and clients to succeed, and it starts with building a strong foundational relationship.

So how do you get the information needed on the intake form while still engaging the client in a meaningful way? This session will help you answer this question. Using interactive activities, role plays, case studies, and existing intake forms you will leave this session with strength-based skills for engaging, assessing, and supporting new clients from the first meeting through to the achievement of goals.

Facilitated by: Cristina Harris and Lisa Furst, MHA-NYC
