Description

Session Two: Exploring Robotics
(Spring into STEM: A Workshop Series for Early Childhood Educators)
Date | Time: Wednesday, March 20, 2019, 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Trainer: Orinthia Harris
Robotics in the early grades takes on many shapes and forms. Teachers will learn how to integrate robotics into pre-K and elementary school classrooms, including robot songs, books, and other arts-based options. Participants will consider how to use robots in classroom centers and will also have the opportunity to develop robots, with steps to take back to their classrooms, so that their students can develop simple robots too! Using Legos, pipe cleaners, toothpicks and other objects normally found in pre-K and elementary school classrooms, teachers will learn how to create simple robots, how to teach the basic functions of a robot, and why robotics is so important in society.
