Event description

Description

Session Four: Making and Tinkering
(Spring into STEM: A Workshop Series for Early Childhood Educators)
Date | Time: Wednesday, April 10, 2019, 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Trainer: Orinthia Harris
Embrace a mindset for making and tinkering through this engaging and highly interactive workshop. Through playful experiences, educators will investigate how making and tinkering experiences support fundamental STEM thinking and learning for young children. Teachers will examine 2-3 aspects of maker education (tinkering, making and engineering) and explore what these look like in early childhood settings (pre-school through grade 3). They will also experience making and tinkering activities as a learner and reflect as an educator on results with young children. Teachers will learn strategies that are necessary for establishing an environment that inspires children to think creatively, take risks, and solve problems.
