Session 5: The Power of Your Presence & How to Pitch Funders
Event Information
About this Event
The effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic are devastating for all of us, but we are exploring and sharing opportunities to survive and thrive. With CARES ACT Recovery Funding, the City of Sacramento's Office of Arts and Culture is offering a training and lab series to help the Creative Economy rise during this difficult time.
In this training, we will understand the power of your presence and how that shows up in various spaces. We'll explore how to bolster your natural presence to give a pitch to potential funders and donors using your authentic story and self. Topics include:
a. Defining the space and audience
b. Your presence in the space and the dynamics of culture and whiteness
c. How to tell your story with integrity and talk about your work
d. Kaleidoscopic storytelling for impact
e. How to Pitch funders and donors
i. Variety of formats
ii. What medium is authentic to you AND your story?
iii. Maintaining your cultural values
f. Building confidence through practice
g. Optional homework to help participants implement what they've learned
There is an optional follow up lab one week later. In the labs, participants will follow up with their homework assignment from the session and workshop it with others and the Office of Arts and Culture mentors. Group discussion will be facilitated during the labs where participants can interact and learn from one another. To register for the lab, please return to the Eventbrite main page and/or the email from the City of Sacramento's Office of Arts and Culture and register separately. Once registered, a Zoom link will be sent to the email of the registrant with a passcode to enter the event.
