Event description

Description

From the Seattle Office for Civil Rights and the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections

For landlords, residential rental property owners and the public

Do you have questions about the City of Seattle’s new “source of income” protections, “Deposit and Move-in Fees” and other regulatory ordinances related to renting in Seattle?

Please join us and we'll explain how these laws work and answer your questions.

This workshop is designed to help landlords navigate rental regulations and access information and assistance.

  • The Source of Income Ordinance expands fair housing protections based on applicants’ source of income and creates new requirements for landlords. This includes the new 'first in time' provision that requires landlords to offer tenancy to the first applicant who meets all the screening criteria necessary for approval.

  • The new Deposits and Move-In Fees Ordinance limits what may be charged at the time of renting. Recently enhanced Tenant Protections, as well as long-established ordinances such as Just Cause Eviction, Rental Agreement Regulation, and Tenant Relocation Assistance, mean there is a lot to know and understand about renting in Seattle.

Event spaces are accessible; to request a reasonable accommodation, language interpretation or childcare please call 206-684-4521.
