Event description

Description

Transition-Age Youth are unique in that they typically do not fit into services designed for children nor do they fit well into services designed for adults. Some might say they are hard to engage but that can be remedied through an acquired understanding of the youth's perspectives, wants, and needs. But don't take it from me - come hear the LifeWorks Panel of Transition-Age Youth as they tell it like it is. Tickets are free - thanks to funding by SAMHSA. In this workshop, you will:

  1. Learn how complex trauma impacts transition-age youth.
  2. Learn strategies to engage successfully with these youth by hearing from experts (both professionals and the youth themselves).
  3. Get advanced viewing of the NCTSN Youth Taskforce video, "Never Give Up"(scheduled for release October 2017).
  4. Practice with real case scenarios in small groups to reinforce learned concepts.

This training workshop is aimed at community professionals serving transition-age youth with complex trauma histories (teens through 25). If you share our passion for improving the quality of services to all Transition-Age Youth in our community, then please join us for this training! It is designed to be interactive and to elevate the voice of youth as we strive to improve quality of services available to them. There will be time for Q&A afterwards for those interested. For more information, please contact Camille Clark, LMSW, at 512-735-2152 or camille.clark@lifeworksaustin.org.
