Service Unit 527-New Brighton Fall Encampment & Journey Weekend

We welcome Daisy - Ambassador Girl Scout Troops to join us 1-3 November 2019. Scouts will enjoy two nights with activities centered on completion of the It's Your World Change It Journeys.

Troop Leaders should complete one registration for their entire Troop, but late add ons are acceptable until registration closes or the event fills up. Juliette Scouts accompanied by a Parent/Guardian/or Juliette Mentor are welcome to register. Juliette Scouts need to substitute their Juliette number for the Troop number on the registration. Juliette Scouts will be bunked with other Juliette Scouts or Troops. Individual girl registrations are welcome. Individual girl registrations will be bunked with Juliette Scouts or Troops. An adult must accompany Juliette Scouts and any individually registered girl for the duration of the weekend. All Troops need to follow Safetywise ratios for girl/adult overnight and daytime supervision of girls.

Check in begins at 7:00pm 1 November 2019, and check out is at 12:00pm on 3 November 2019. Troops will lodge together in an assigned cabin or dorm areas at Camp Elk River.

A full event schedule, packing list, and sleeping assignment will be sent out to registered Troops the week prior to the event. Bring appropriate outdoor gear and attire in anticipation of spending one to two hours outdoors.

* Daisy Girl Scouts will complete the following badges from the Outdoor Journey: Buddy Camper and Outdoor Art. They will complete the Welcome to the Flower Garden Journey.

*Brownie Girl Scouts will complete the following badge from the Outdoor Journey: Troop Camper. They will also complete Outdoor Art Creator badge and the Brownie Quest Journey.

*Junior Girl Scouts will complete the following badge from the Outdoor Journey: Animal Habitats. They will also complete the Outdoor Art Explorer Badge and the Agent of Change Journey.

*Cadette Girl Scouts will complete the Amaze Journey. Senior Girl Scouts will complete the Girltopia Journey. Ambassadors will complete the Your Voice Your World Journey.

A list of the earned badges will be provided for Troops to purchase. The event patch is designed and voted on by our girls, these will be mailed out approximately 8-12 weeks after the event. All participants will receive an event T-shirt.

There is absolutely NO wearing of socks, bare feet or any type of slippers in the Gray Koch or dorm buildings. Everyone must wear closed toed shoes at all times. This will be enforced and you will be asked to put on appropriate closed toed shoes to participate in camp activities.

We will be providing the s’mores snack for the Scouts own on Saturday night. If you have Scouts with food allergies or dietary needs for this snack, please note this on your registration.

Troops are responsible for planning their meals. There will be refrigerator space, microwaves, stove tops, and outlets for crockpots. If your Troop would like to do outdoor cooking, please note this on your registration. Outdoor cook kits are available for checkout, if you would like one please note this on your registration.

Follow Safety Wise rules for adult/girl ratios. Each Troop must have at least one trained adult who is CPR and First Aide Certified, and has been trained in Girl Scouts River Valley’s Girls Sleep In and Girls Cook In training. The Sleep in and Cook in training is a self-guided and downloadable from the council volunteer website.

Electronic games, portable electronic devices, tablets, and electronic toys of any kind are not allowed. We discourage the use of cell phones and will not tolerate girls texting or gaming during Camp activities. However we will allow girls to use their personal phone to capture photographs. Girls caught using their phone to play games, text, or do activities besides taking photos will receive a verbal warning. Any follow up cell phone infractions will result in the phone being confiscated. Any confiscated electronic device will be returned during parent pick up at the end of camp. The camp staff will not be held responsible for any lost or damaged electronic device.

Adults registering as an "Event Volunteer"-you must be a registered Troop Leader, Adult Girl Scout, or registered Girl Scout Volunteer. You are required to stay onsite starting at 7:00pm 1 November 2019 and work at stations assigned by the Camp Director through 1:00pm 3 November 2019.
