Event description

Description

For students, the feeling that one is contributing to something of value elevates the learning process to a higher level. Learning becomes a worthwhile exercise for students, and much more rewarding for faculty, when the experience offers a truer connection to the world and appeals to a student’s sense of what is relevant to his or her goals. One method by which to foster these kinds of educational experiences is through service-learning. But how can one cultivate this kind of engagement from a distance? The purpose of this workshop is to introduce best practices for online service-learning, examine the relevant challenges and opportunities, and engage in discussion about incorporating valuable service-learning activities and projects within an online course.
