Description

FSCJ Students Only

About: Beaches Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in the Jacksonville Beaches. Beaches Habitat works in partnership with local families and volunteers to build and rehabilitate simple, decent homes for qualified families in need. They also offer college scholarships, after-school tutoring, and rewards for academic excellence for their partner families.

Service Learning Friday Tasks: FSCJ volunteers will be working on a construction project for a home currently under construction. More details about the type of work to be completed will be communicated closer to the day of service.

Know Before You Go: Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes, dress appropriately for outside weather (long pants encouraged), clothes you do not mind getting dirty, and no clothing displaying derogatory pictures or writing. It is encouraged that volunteers leave their jewelry at home, and bring a handkerchief or scarf to cover your head under the hard hat (if needed). Volunteers should bring a personal water bottle. Agency provides water coolers to refill bottles.

Don’t forget to print and bring your Service Learning Tracking Form & Ethics and Commitments Agreement: https://www.fscj.edu/docs/default-source/academic-information/civic-engagement/cce-tracking-and-ethics.pdf
