Event description

"Value Stream Mapping"

Overview: Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a powerful tool for quickly identifying obstructions in a production flow path that delay the movement of work in process and cause an increase in costs. This webinar will explain how VSM fits in the concept of Lean Principals; what VSM will achieve for you; and how to implement this technique to make best use of the information it reveals to you.

About the Presenter: With over 25 years of manufacturing experience in paper converting, metal fabrication, and electronics assembly, Jim Tate has held positions from department manager to chief manufacturing officer. Certified as a Fellow in APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society), Jim has implemented lean concepts in factories and offices across Virginia. Improvements in production throughput, product quality, and inventory reductions were the main results from these changes.

As a consultant or project leader, Jim has participated in the selection and implementation of ERP software programs in five different manufacturing firms. He is currently a Managing Director for Cogent Management Resources in Roanoke, VA.

Jim has a BS degree in structural engineering from Old Dominion University and an MBA degree in Finance and Investments from the University of Alabama, Manderson Graduate School of Business.
