Join us for our National Public Lands Day volunteer service event on Saturday, September 23. We will spend the removing the cut lotus from the ponds to help in next year's growth, removing invasive plants, picking up trash, and performing other park projects. FREE lunch provided!
WHEN: Saturday, September 23th, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Registration opens at 8:30am, please arrive no later than 8:45am.
WHERE: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. By Car: Enter the park at the Anacostia Ave entrance to access the free visitors parking lot. By Metro: Kenilworth is accessible via the Deanwood Metro stop (orange line)
WHAT: Volunteers will work in the ponds removing cut lotus, in the forest removing invasive plants or performing other park projects. The event will run rain or shine—please dress accordingly and plan to work outside.
BRING WITH YOU: Please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and long-sleeved shirts. You may want to bring an extra set of clothes if you want to work in the ponds. Be prepared to work outside and bring your own water bottle.
OTHER: We encourage families and students to join us. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone, parent or guardian. This event is eligible for Student Service Learning (SSL) hours.
