Description

Separated Attachments: Requirements of Parenting Adult Offspring

2.0 CE Hour Workshop

This two hour workshop is designed for psychotherapists but will be accessible to parents of adult children as well. It will provide a forum to discuss the challenges and developmental journey of parenting. There are extensive literature and self-help books helping parents in the early years of raising toddlers, children and adolescents, but little guidance once those children are “adults”. College students are texting their parents multiple times a day, people in their thirties may feel their parents are their go-to counselors. How do we gage dependence/independence, letting go/holding on, and how to get to a healthy separated attachment?

Course Objectives:

-Theories of psychological development will be discussed as they apply to adults as well as infants.

-Applying diagnoses of attachment theory with an emphasis on separated attachments.

-Practical applications to be used with patients of adult children

Saturday, November 16 10am-12pm, Location TBA
