Event description

Description

Established in 2015, SEMPQIC is dedicated to addressing birth inequities and infant mortality rates in Southeast Michigan.

Please join the Southeast Michigan Perinatal Quality Improvement Coalition and the Greater Detroit Area Health Council as we host SEMPQIC's annual conference. This year's conference will address the impacts of the social determinants of health on the quality of care infants and mothers receive in neonatal units and in the community.

Conference Objectives:

1. Understand the impact of social determinants of health, including racism, on the quality of care for women and families.

2. Identify quality improvement opportunities to integrate community resources or referrals into existing perinatal services in Region 10 (Southeast Michigan).

3. Learn of current research and data trends related to health care disparities that impact perinatal health and promote networking for impact.

Sessions:

Healthy Baby at Home Project Update & Direction

Health Systems Interventions to Reduce Infant Mortality

Community Conversation on Home Visiting Programs

Update on MIHIP 2019-2022

Social Determinants, Racism, and Quality of Care

Interactive Session on Implicit Bias

Keynote presentation, speakers, and full conference details are to be announced shortly! This is a free event but registration is required. Continental breakfast and box lunches are included with registration.

This year we are also offering vendor booths and opportunities to present poster boards. Vendor booths are available and include a table to exhibit materials and products to conference participants. Typically, conference participants include healthcare professionals, home visiting agencies, and community members. Vendor booths are ideal for organizations looking to market products and resources specific to the needs of these organizations and that advance the health of women and children. Vendor booths are limited to a total of 10. Presentation of a poster board is free and offers organizations and/or individuals the ability to present relevant research and/or resources to conference participants. Unlike vendor booths, poster boards do not include a table. Poster boards are limited to a total of 10. To reserve a vendor booth or space to present a poster board, please contact Devon Parrott at dparrott@gdahc.org.
