Event description

Description

September 26, 2018, companies with cancer prevention, detection and treatment innovations are invited to attend a presentation and private meetings with Dr. Jonathan Franca-Koh, NCI Program Director, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Development Center. After an information presentation from 9:00am - 10:30am, there will be rare chance to sign up for one-on-one meetings from 11:00am - 3:00pm. The sign up process is listed below.*

The National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Development Center is one of the nation’s largest sources of financing for innovative technologies that prevent, detect and treat cancer. NCI SBIR’s funding, mentoring and networking assistance is offered to small businesses and researchers who demonstrate promising next-generation cancer technologies, with the ultimate goal being successful commercialization and life-changing public benefit.

Acting as adviser and mentor, NCI SBIR helps guide entrepreneurs, inventors and researchers through each step in the funding application process and beyond. Awardees receive non-dilutive funding, meaning there is no payback commitment.

Once off the ground, NCI SBIR brings together partner companies to help teach awardees how to build business models around their technologies and create the most appealing arguments for investors. This knowledge then helps small businesses overcome obstacles to commercialization. NCI SBIR also fosters networking opportunities to attract additional investor and market interest, increasing the likelihood that these powerful cancer prevention, detection and treatment innovations make it to the marketplace and improve the lives of American citizens.

To discover if your technology may be right for funding, email ncisbir@mail.nih.gov. To learn more about NCI SBIR Development Center, visit https://sbir.cancer.gov.
