A child from Child Help or Victory Junction will build the car for you. All you do is donate to SEMA Cares and race. If you cannot attend the race, a driver will be assigned for you. (See complete Rules and Regulations for details.)

Stock Class
Kit includes a pre-shaped car or truck body made from a block of wood, wheels and axles. Build Level-- sand, paint, add tires, axles and weight (maximum weight 6 ounces). Modifications to tires or wheels prohibited. (See complete Rules and Regulations for details.)

Unlimited Class
Must use at least one part from stock kit somewhere on the vehicle. Maximum weight 8.0 ounces. Beyond that, just about anything goes! (See complete Rules and Regulations for details.)

SEMA CARES Pinewood Drag Race Sponsorship 

Rules and Regulations  

Build it for me / Sponsor a Child Class 

  1. A child from Childhelp or Victory Junction must build the car using a supplied Pinewood Drags kit.

  2. Car or truck will be built according to Stock Class rules, but will compete only with other BIFM class cars.  

Stock Class 

  1. All four wheels must touch the track at the time of the race.

  2. Maximum weight is 6.00 ounces. The official race track scale shall be considered final.

  3. No loose material of any kind such as lead shot, mercury etc may be used.

  4. No materials other than those supplied can be used.

  5. Stock axles must be used and cannot be modified in any form. They may be polished and lubricated using a dry lube only.

  6. Stock height of axles must be used and cannot be modified in any form.

  7. Stock location of axles must be used and cannot be modified in any form.

  8. Supplied Pine Wood Drags kit must be used with either Mustang or Truck body.

  9. The car body may not have any moving parts inside or outside of it.

  10. The car cannot ride on any type of springs.

  11. The car must be freewheeling, with no starting devices or added devices that can add propulsion at anytime during the race.

  12. The car must have minimum 1 3/4 inch clearance between the wheels.

  13. The car must have minimum 3/8 inch clearance underneath the body.

  14. The overall length of the car shall not exceed 7.0 inches.

  15. The wheels supplied with the kit must be used. The wheels may not be cut, drilled, beveled or

    rounded in any way. You may remove the seam from the wheels. (SLIGHT sanding to remove the seam only).

  16. Wheel bearings, washers or bushings of any kind on or near the wheels are prohibited.  

 

Unlimited Class 

  1. At least one (1) part from the supplied Pinewood Drags Kit must be used somewhere on the car.

  2. Maximum weight limit of vehicle is 8.00 ounces. The official race track scale shall be considered final.

  3. The overall length of the car shall not exceed 7.5 inches including wheels.

  4. The overall width of the car shall not exceed 2 3/4 inches including wheels and tires.

  5. The car must have enough clearance underneath the body to prevent bottoming on the track.

  6. The car must be freewheeling, with no starting devices or added devices that can add propulsion at any time during the race.  

Additional rules for ALL classes 

  1. All participants will have fun!

  2. If during a race, a car leaves the track without interfering with its opponent, it shall be considered to have ended its heat at that point.

  3. If a car leaves its lane, at his sole discretion, the track chairman may inspect the track, and if a track fault is found which might have caused the initial violation, the track chairman may order the race to be rerun after the track is repaired.

  4. If during a race, no car reaches the finish line on the track, the car which went the farthest in its lane shall be declared the winner.

  5. If during a race, a car leaves its lane and, in so doing, interferes with another racer, then the car at fault shall be declared to have lost the race heat.

  6. Only dry lubricants such as graphite, or powdered Teflon "White lube" will be allowed for lubricating the wheels. Lubricants may not foul up the track in any way or the vehicle in violation will be disqualified.

  7. Details such as steering wheel, driver, decals, painting and interiors details are permissible as long as these detials do not exceed the maximum length, width and weight specifications.

  8. The official timers will determine the winnder of each heat, semi-finals and final rounds. All information from the timer and/or the event chairman shall be considered final.

  9. WHEN IN DOUBT, SEE RULE #1.
