Many of us suffer from overly critical views of ourself and we often feel bad or feel we aren't "good enough." These feelings of low self-esteem and even self-hatred undermine us, and we get stuck in these painful attitudes. Without self-acceptance and self-respect there is no basis for a truly happy and beneficial life, but how do we develop these positive views? The practice of meditation helps us to connect with a deeper sense of well-being that opens us up to to a new way of experiencing ourselves.
In this course, through talks, guided meditations, and discussion, Kadam Holly will show us how to cultivate an inner sense of well-being through the practice of meditation and to use it to change how we relate to ourselves. Using Buddha's psychological insights she will help us to see clearly how our judgmental view of ourself is not reliable and is based on misperceptions of reality. Instead of relating to our faults and limitations and becoming stuck in our bad habits of mind, we can instead begin to relate to our potential for happiness and growth. Through that we will discover the real key to happiness, harmony and profound spiritual development.
Everyone is welcome. This course is suitable both for beginners and those more experienced. Saturday, February 15th, 10am-1pm. $20 / free for members.
