About this event

Have you thought about writing a book? Maybe you've considered self-publishing, or maybe you know you want to write a book but you aren't sure where to start.

Join us for a conversation with two Women Talk Design speakers about their paths to self-publishing.

Kat Vellos, author of We Should Get Together and Connected from Afar, and Tutti Taygerly, author of Make Space to Lead, will discuss their journeys as authors, why they chose to self-publish, and what they learned along the way.

Kat Vellos

Kat Vellos is the author of We Should Get Together: The Secret to Cultivating Better Friendships and Connected from Afar: A Guide for Staying Close When You're Far Away.

She is a user experience designer, speaker, author and community creator. Her work crosses disciplines, but is almost always focused on helping others thrive by having more creative and connected lives.

As a user experience designer, Kat worked for Slack and Pandora, as well as with the creators of Siri designing the first iteration of Samsung’s Bixby. She has been profiled in Forbes and quoted in FastCompany for her work as the founder of Bay Area Black Designers which is a professional development community for Black designers and UX researchers.

Kat runs a Designer-to-Author Mastermind Circles to support people in their self-publishing journies.

Her mission is to educate, inspire, and empower others to live their best lives possible.

Tutti Taygerly

Tutti Taygerly has 20+ years of experience in design across multiple industries, from big data to consumer video and from enterprise software to entertainment. She’s led design teams at startups, design agencies, and large tech companies. Today, Tutti is a coach to entrepreneurs and technology leaders who make a real impact in the world.

She discovered the power of coaching as a wake-up call and her path to entrepreneurship. It's enabled her to support people in designing their best professional and personal lives.

On November 2nd her first book, Make Space to Lead, a hands-on guide to research, create experiments, and take action on what matters for an individual's leadership, will be released.

Tutti has been an insatiable adventurer and prickly risk-taker her entire life. She grew up in seven countries on three continents and is settled in San Francisco as her home base. She spends her time parenting two spirited girls, obsessively reading, and paddling out for the next wave.
