About this Event

Our self-producing series, led by the TEAM’s Producing Director Alexandra Lalonde and industry guests, continues this winter about the business side of making and sustaining your work. Each two-hour session is a peer-to-peer discussion over drinks--your registration fee includes beer and wine provided by the TEAM.

Institutional Fundraising

Monday, February 10

7-9pm

Registration: $30

ART/NY @ South Oxford in Brooklyn, Studio B

TEAM Producing Director Alexandra Lalonde and Bushwick Starr Development Director Lauren Miller will lead a 2-hour peer-to-peer conversation about institutional fundraising for organizations and individual projects. Together, we'll discuss grant writing, researching foundations, communicating with institutions and how to grow your capacity to attract major grants. We'll share experiences from the TEAM's own history, and solicit your questions in advance of the workshop to help guide our discussion.

To avoid fees, call 718-857-8326 to register over the phone.

Lauren Miller is a fundraising professional who has served as Development Director of The Bushwick Starr since 2017. She brings to the Starr her experience in fundraising for the Irish Repertory Theatre and TACT/The Actors Company Theatre and her passion for contemporary performance-based work. At the Starr, she manages a complex portfolio of institutional giving from government, foundation, and corporate sources while building a membership program, spearheading fundraising events like the Annual Gala, and managing the Board of Directors. In her duties, she also collaborates with individual artists on fundraising strategies from grantwriting to crowdfunding, securing grants that have brought works like Kristine Haruna Lee's SUICIDE FOREST, Sean Donovan's CABIN, and Jillian Walker's SKiNFoLK:An American Show to their world premiere productions. From 2011-2015, Lauren worked to develop 20 original plays as producer of the newTACTics New Play Festival, and she continues to collaborate as a director/dramaturg with theatermakers including The Amoralists and Amios.
