Event Details

Self-abusers do not fit a uniform profile as there are many factors which may lead one to self-neglect.  Participants will learn of the indicators of self-neglect, ways to assess for this complex problem and intervention strategies. Among individuals who have the psychiatric diagnosis of hoarding disorder, it appears that all suffer from self-neglect in addition to hoarding.  We wil explore the challenge of balancing the individual’s right to autonomy with society’s obligation to protect at-risk adults.

This free program will provide 2 continuing education units to social workers, geriatric care managers, case managers, and nurses.

Instructor: Marcie Cooper, MSW, LCSW
