In this two-hour seminar, we will be covering the basic vocabulary of self-defense, including verbal defense, de-escalation, physical defense, and defense against intimate partner violence. This seminar will deal with the more sensitive issues of personal space and sexual agency, among other things.
Specific skills will include:
Using your voice
Posture and physicality
Strikes: knees, elbows, palm strike
Rape and assault defenses
Everyone deserves to feel safe. With these skills, I have always felt that I have the courage to stick up for myself and avoid incident. It's helped me relieve stress and feel secure, especially living in New York. I hope that, with some of these skills under your belt, you can develop the same sense.
Self defense and martial arts have helped me remain confident in everything I do, from schoolwork to walking home alone. Studying martial arts improves your physical and mental health and points you in the right direction toward an overall healthier lifestyle.
