Event description

Description

Being a creative is empowering and beautiful, but also, let‘s be honest, y’all, challenging! What tools can help us embrace a consistent self-care practice, and ground us in living with intention? We’re delving into all that and more! Enjoy light fare and connecting with other creatives in an affirming space.

Workshop Flow / Presenters:

The first workshop, focused on written journaling as a form of self care, led by Emelda De Coteau, founder of Women Creatives Chat, delves into the practical ways this practice helps you evolve on your creative path, while also healing from within. Opens with guided deep breathing / meditation.

Candance Greene, podcaster (Cherished Flight) and writer explores what it means to live intentionally, redirecting our thoughts to what is powerful and true about ourselves. She sees these actions as deeply connected to faith, and understanding God’s purpose for our lives.

Visual journaling is a powerful tool which can organize multiple creative ideas. Amelia Carroll, artist, educator and cultural ambassador, discuses concrete strategies for managing projects and connecting to your larger vision. She also reminds us about the importance of quieting the mind.

“University of Texas at Austin psychologist and researcher James Pennebaker contends that regular journaling strengthens immune cells, called T-lymphocytes. Other research indicates that journaling decreases the symptoms of asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. Pennebaker believes that writing about stressful events helps you come to terms with them, thus reducing the impact of these stressors on your physical health.” Source: Psych Central
