Self-Care for Nonprofit Fundraisers
Event Information
About this Event
You may have noticed recently that more people seem to be recognizing an important truth: that self-care can’t be treated as a luxury. Having tools to help our brains take a break from work is not only essential for our health; it can actually also makes us better at our jobs, and help us to be more productive and effective.
People who fundraise for nonprofits face unique challenges, especially right now- cancelled events and concerns about the economy, the heavy responsibility of raising funds when jobs and programs are on the line, making head-spinning decisions with little information available. So it’s important for us to also have tools available that allow us to take care of ourselves. It helps us to continue to be there for those in our communities who are counting on us and our organizations.
In this special workshop, we'll explore research on how stress, and even trauma, affect our brains and our ability to work well, even when we are doing work that we love. We'll share practical advice for how you, as a person raising money for a nonprofit, can care for your mind and body, and ways to think about fundraising that might relieve some avoidable anxieties- giving you more mental and emotional energy for yourself AND your organization.
This workshop will be co-facilitated by Yoga and Meditation Instructor Arch Chenevert and Fundraising Coach Nora Ellertsen.
In order to help make these important tools accessible for as many people as possible, this workshop is available on a sliding scale for all participants. Tickets range from $5 to $30. Please pay what you can; doing so helps others to join this workshop. (For your reference, workshops usually cost $20 per person.)
In addition, we have 10 scholarship spots available for free registration, made available by an anonymous donor. If you would like to attend this workshop and the cost to you and/or your organization would prevent you from participating, you can sign up for a free spot here.
When: Wednesday, February 24th from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Attendees will receive an electronic Certificate of Participation after completing the workshop.
In order to comply with local community health guidelines while continuing to help nonprofits thrive through fundraising, we are offering this live, virtual workshop online through Zoom. A link and instructions to join will be sent to you after you register.
