June 3, 2022 - Festivities, food, and fun for all!

About this event

You're invited to Seely Place's 100th Birthday Party!

In 1922, the building we now know as Seely Place opened its doors. Back then, it was called the Edgemont School, and it went to 10th grade. It had only eight rooms and sixty students. By 1931, a gym, library, auditorium, and second floor had all been added, along with wood shop and home ec classrooms. By 1949, having made it through The Great Depression and World War II, the Edgemont School was overcrowded with 660 students. So, in 1951, the district decided to build Greenville School for grades K-3, and in 1953, the district voted to build Edgemont Jr./Sr. High School. Once the other two schools opened, the original Edgemont School became known as Seely Place…and it is certainly a school worth celebrating!

The Seely Centennial is an important event in our community, not only for those at Seely Place now, but for anyone who has ever been a part of its impressive history. We look forward to celebrating Seely with the entire Edgemont community!

The Edgemont Community Council (ECC) is hosting a fundraiser on June 4. The ECC is partnering with Rise Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organization, to provide food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable. Do you know that almost 700 million people in the world – 1 in every 11 people – are categorized as hungry? And that 2 billion people don't have regular access to the nutritious food they need to live healthy lives? Please join us in the Seely APR on June 4 for a fun, educational family activity (great for children as young as 4 years old) as we work together as a community to package 10,000 meals for those in need. To support this activity, we’re requesting a donation of $50/person or $100/family. Click here and then on Donate and Register to sign up for a shift: Meal Packing 12:00-1:30 pm or 2:00-3:30 pm; Set Up 10:00-11:45 am; or Pack Up 3:30-5:00 pm. Click on Donate if you can’t make it but would still like to contribute.
