Seeing the Future Through the Lens of the Past

Live Event with Dr. Ashraf Muneeb

Sunday, April 11th at 4:30pm GMT

Islamic history is filled with stories that we have come to love and enjoy.  We read about the lives of the prophets, or the valor of the Sahaba, or tales of the Muslim lands. But what is really the point in hearing such stories? Are they meant merely to entertain, or is there something more at play?

History is didactic—its purpose is to teach, not just to inform.  By learning the past and reflecting on its lessons, you can, in fact, know the future.  While the settings and characters often change, the motivations, the conflicts, the choices, and the themes do not.

This Sunday, Dr. Ashraf Muneeb will not only regale you with stories from Islamic history, but he’ll also reveal the age-old morals each story illustrates. Why does evil fight good?  What happens to those who transgress others?  How is true wisdom really attained?  Why does history repeat itself?

Dr. Ashraf Muneeb, our Academy director, is known for embodying the wisdom and compassion found in these stories.  Highly educated in the traditional Islamic sciences, having graduated with honors from Mahad al-Fath in Syria and holding a PhD from Imam al-Ouzai University in Lebanon, and with decades of work experience, Dr. Ashraf will help us to see why and how learning history can impact the decisions we make today.
