Seeds2065 Lumen Print Workshop - Future Evidence Lab
Overview
Future Evidence Lab” looks toward SEED_2065’s imagined future, where humans step aside and other natures—animals, microbes, soil, rivers, fungi, forests—rise into agency. Seen from 2065, our present becomes a trembling threshold: a moment when every gesture, every meal, every discarded trace might become an artefact. If the future will read us, what are we leaving for it to find? Rather than fearing this distant gaze, Future Evidence Lab invites participants to step into it—working with objects, light, and time to create their own documents for the future. The workshop asks:
What will remain of us in 2065?
How will the future read the shadows and impressions we leave behind today?
As part of the SEED_2065 public programme, workshop participants will be encouraged to work within the gallery setting, amongst and responding to the artworks which form the exhibition SEED_2065. This project focuses on research and collaboration, whilst reacting to the question: What happens when humans step aside and other species thrive? Opening on December 4th at the Handbag Factory in Vauxhall, this unique exhibition features new works that imagine a peaceful post-anthropocentric world in the year 2065 — or reflect the urgent dystopia of now from this future.
Led by art collective TearSlaly, and responding to Weiyi Chen’s work Eveidence2025, this workshop will use lumen printing as a method of evidence-making, participants will create their own “future artefacts” and reflect on how the traces and actions of the present might be interpreted—or misinterpreted—by future archaeologists.
SEED_2065 will run until 15 December, so we intend to display the collages made at the workshop for the remainder of the exhibition. Don't worry - we will get them back to you after the show!
No previous art experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Can't wait to see you there xoxo
SEED_2065 is a futuristic visual art project set in 2065, where humans heal ancestral damage for ecological flourishing. 21 artists are creating new works from this future perspective. In the present, they gather to world-build, explore post-anthropocentrism, and plan shows and events – the first in December at the Handbag Factory Gallery, Vauxhall, London. SEED_2065 is an ongoing project that aims to travel to different locations as well as have a virtual presence. If you would like to support them, collaborate or find out more please email: seed.2065art@gmail.com
TearSlaly is a collaborative art community co-founded by Weiyi Chen and Xinyue Tao, focusing on multidisciplinary creation and experimentation between photography and textiles. Their collaboration revolves around the core themes of “time” and “relationship,” and unfolds through regularly organized workshops, co-creation, and public events. They are committed to breaking down boundaries between mediums and aim to foster deeper, more authentic connections between humans and nature, memory and the present through sensory and material interaction.
