Description

SEEDS Career Workshops Program Presents: Half-Day Workshop on Presentational Skills and Career Networking Development through Theatrical Training by Prof. Laura Rikard

This half-day workshop will apply performance pedagogy, traditionally used in training theatre practitioners, to help faculty and graduate students enhance skills for interpersonal networking and when presenting in the classroom, at conferences, and interviews. In the pursuit of study and research in areas such as the sciences, scholars are often well versed in research and applicable practice in one’s area of expertise. However, often in these pursuits the time for developing skills in how to communicate this information (outside of the written form) can be overlooked. This workshop offers faculty and graduate students an enjoyable and comfortable environment to enhance and develop this skill.

Laura Rikard, Assistant Professor of Acting and Directing at the University of Miami, Department of Theatre Arts. Previous to UM she was a Visiting Professor of Acting and Stage Movement at Brown University Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies, following three years as the Head of Acting and Movement and the BFA Coordinator with Stephen F Austin State University School of Theatre.
