Event Details

One of the biggest events of the year in Central Virginia is the Heritage Harvest Festival  at Monticello.  Southern Exposure hosts this event in partnership with the Thomas Jefferson Foundation annually in September.

Enjoy the Festival on Friday and Saturday September 6-7, then join us for some regional networking among seed savers Sunday morning, September 8, in Louisa and finish the afternoon with tours of five different Louisa County Farms that are involved in seed saving. Each farm will offer a tour of the operation, tell you the part that seed saving plays on their farm, and give a brief seed saving demonstration. Participating farms include, in suggested order of touring:

  • Twin Oaks Community Seeds (Demo: 1:00)
  • All Farm Organics (Demo: 1:45)
  • Acorn Community (Demo: 2:30)
  • Living Energy Farm (Demo 3:30)
  • Forrest Green Farm (Demo 4:30)  (Open for tours from 3 to 5)

Directions to each farm, in sequential order, is found here.

Brought to you by VABF, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, the Seed Savers Exchange, and hosting Louisa County Farms.

Suggested Donation for participation in the tours is $15. Membership to VABF will be offered at half-price in conjunction with this event. Join us for some on-farm learning and join VABF at the same time!
