Event description

Description

Sediment basins have their challenges. Here in the coastal area problems can be particularly acute. The high intensity rain events and erodible soils are not excuses for preventing erosion and capturing sediment when it does start to move. This course offers regulatory, design and retrofit information in a distilled but not abbreviated format. The course will cover technical design aspects, retrofits for existing basins, pond construction and maintenance and dewatering considerations.

Course intended audiences include MS4s, stormwater managers, erosion and sediment control professionals, and engineers responsible for planning, design and meeting regulatory requirements.

Course outline…
1) Current ADEM-NPDES construction stormwater requirements: water quality requirements,
2) Sediment Basin Design,
3) Break,
4) Sediment Basin Construction and Maintenance, and
5) Discussion and Opportunities for questions and answers.

Instructor: Joel Seawell, Owner & Operator of Erosion Pros, LLC (Erosion Pros) in Auburn, Alabama.

Sponsored by Create a Clean Water Future, City of Daphne, Baldwin County MS4s, Coastal Training Program/Weeks Bay NERR, NOAA Office for Coastal Management, Weeks Bay Foundation, and Baldwin County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn about this important topic and not travel far to do it. There is no fee, but online registration if required. Contact Mike Shelton at mike.shelton@dcnr.alabama.gov or 251-490-8968 for more information.
