The purpose of this discussion is to evaluate Jesus' use of parables to deliver God's Message and how we can emulate delivery method to deliver better security awareness training. Jesus' use of parables is just as spiritually educational today as it was during His life on earth. These stories are timeless messages of forgiveness, love, redemption and salvation. Emulating Jesus' "Spiritual Awareness Training" parables may be the key to delivering effective security awareness training.can have critical consequences. In a similar manner, we communicate with the God who created us and the Lord who gave all to save us both on a daily basis and when the stuff hits the fan. This can have both personal and eternal consequences.
Larry Moore has served in various positions in information security as part of his twenty-five year career in information technology.Larry graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Computer Science. He started off in the Cape Canaveral area working in software development for several companies before moving to south Florida where he worked as a UNIX software developer and eventually on IBM’s OS/2 in its early day in advanced technical support, kernel, device driver and application development.
After OS/2, Larry moved to the information security field as a kernel software developer for various security components for both AIX and Linux. He later joined Home Depot as the lead security engineer for their data center then later move to the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as the agency’s Information Security Officer where he was responsible for performing risk assessments, establishing security policies, procedures and awareness training. He also provided direction for all incident responses and provided security-related technical assistance. Mr. Moore also served on two governance boards for the state’s official website, Texas.gov and participated in the Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber Storm Exercise in 2010. After DIR, Larry joined Rêv Worldwide as the Chief Security, Risk and Compliance Officer.
Mr. Moore is an active member of ISSA, ISACA and InfraGard and has written numerous articles on information security and software development. He is an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
