As part of the 2017 SPECTRA Festival of Light Curated Place is partnership with Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives and Granite Noir offers an unique opportunity to explore the unseen sides of Aberdeen while learning photographic and Adobe Photoshop techniques from one of the UK's leading digital artists - photographer Andrew Brooks. The day will include exclusive access to one of Aberdeen's heritage buildings and a masterclass allowing event beginners to become advanced Photoshop users in a day.

Bringing together artists, institutions and audiences in true collaboration this summer the Secret Cities project we are developing the work from a traditional photographic exhibition format into a new interactive projection based installation with the support of Creative Scotland, Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives, HLF, MAKE Aberdeen, Seventeen and Aberdeen City Council.
The full day workshops invite you to learn about the Secret Cities team's approach, enabling you to learn the practical and artistic skills employed by Andrew Brooks in producing his spectacular photography and get access to Photoshop training from the artist. Starting in Seventeen participants will be taken to unique locations in Aberdeen city centre before working in MAKE to learn how to use Photoshop composites, layer masks and advanced techniques in just a day. Suitable for all abilities this is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the leading digital artists in the UK.
